The Problem
The homeowner contacted us after noticing movement in the ridge tiles on one of the roof's hips. Over time, the original mortar bedding had deteriorated, allowing the ridge tiles to become loose.
If left unattended, loose ridge tiles can fall from the roof, posing a danger to people below and potentially causing further damage to the roof structure.
What We Found:
Our Solution
After safely accessing the roof, we carefully removed the loose ridge tiles from the affected section of the hip.
The old, deteriorated mortar was removed before each ridge tile was re-bedded using a fresh sand and cement mix. Care was taken to match the existing appearance of the roof, ensuring the repaired section blended in with the surrounding ridge line.
Once the ridge tiles had been securely re-fixed, we checked the alignment and stability of the repair to ensure the roof was once again fully weatherproof and structurally secure.
